After the worst year of my life filled with burnout, depression, anxiety, and health problems resulting in a general numbness of my usually passionate and fiery self, I needed a new way to share and be creative that didn't have anything to do with drawing or collaborating with others. It needed to be something solely for myself that already came naturally enough so it wouldn't be too new-thing-intensive or design dependent. A freeform way to share and stretch my brain without too much strain.
I have no plan on any order or theme or format for the posts that will go here yet, but I'm still pretty excited about having somewhere to share whatever goes on in my funny little skull.
Welcome to Absolute Cinema (and other things), a place for me to talk in long form about the random media I consume and dump my thoughts about it all.
My name is Mimsy and I'll be your host this year as I go through films, tv, anime, shorts, and any other watched media that comes across my screen this year. I studied film and animation in school and grew up on film sets where my dad worked for his entire career which led to my love of the filmmaking and time-based storytelling process. I love talking about media, culture, and all the art that happens in-between. I decided to start this little blog as a personal project to shake off a lot of the 2025 funk that's piled up on me and maybe fall back in love with things I've lost sight of along the way.
I welcome any thoughtful replies and idea exchanges in my comments and I appreciate anyone that stops by to give my words some eyes.
To future Mimsy, if you need a reminder, because I know you will eventually, here it is:
